GIF Menu Bar Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

GIF Menu Bar is a menu-bar app for finding and sharing GIFs. We designed it to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what happens to your data.

What we don't collect

We do not create accounts, and we do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or any personally identifying information. We have no analytics and no advertising SDKs of our own. We never sell your data.

What stays on your Mac

Your favorites, your settings (panel size, thumbnail size), and a randomly generated anonymous ID are stored only on your device. They never leave your Mac except as described below.

What is sent to Klipy (our GIF provider)

GIFs are provided by Klipy. When you search or browse, your search text and a random anonymous ID (not tied to your identity) are sent to Klipy so it can return relevant GIFs. This data is handled under Klipy's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store the results of these requests on any server of ours.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled in a future update, ads are served by Klipy and may involve data used for advertising measurement, governed by Klipy's policies. This page will be updated before any such change, and the App Store privacy details will reflect it.

Children

GIF Menu Bar is not directed at children under 13.
